The newly build Central Station serves a large number of national and international high speed train services. There are serveral direct connections from and to Budapest, Salzburg, Graz, Munich, Frankfurt and Zurich.
Vienna Central Station is served by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). You can book tickets directly via their website.
From the Central Station, take the subway U1 (red line, direction: Leopoldau) to the station Karlsplatz. Change there to the subway U2 (purple line, direction: Aspernstrasse) and get off at the station “Schottentor-Universität”. Walk (3 minutes) to the main building.
Vienna West Station was the for a long time the center of trains from and to west. Since the opening of Vienna Cental Station, it has lost its importance for international train connections, but remains an important station for national train connection (e.g. to Salzburg or Linz).
